IPA 10K & Beer Mile Invitational

The IPA 10K is a scenic 10K run that loops from the Barlow, through the northern, rural edge of Sebastopol, ending with a post-race Beer & Music Festival and Beer Mile that will delight runners and beer lovers alike.

IPA10KPoster On race day, runners will gather at Crooked Goat Brewing for a beer or cider toast before crossing under the giant beer and wine bottle inflatable that towers over the start line. After 6.2 miles, runners return to the Barlow to receive their medals and 4-ounce beer tasting glasses. Fourteen craft breweries will be featured at the festival, alongside other exhibitors and merchants. The festival opens for runners and their guests at 9:30 am and to the general public from 11:30 am to 2:30 pm. The band stage, sponsored by Lagunitas Brewing, is open throughout the festival.

The Beer Mile Invitational is a race around one block of the Barlow whereby professional runners compete for prize money. Each runner must consume a 12-ounce beer every ¼ mile lap in the “chug zone”, and keep it down. The world record in the beer mile is 4 minutes and 34 seconds by Canadian Corey Bellemore. Prior to the professional heat, participating breweries will sponsor a 4-person relay team in which each team member consumes a 12-ounce beer, then run a quarter mile and consume another beer, before his partner can proceed with the same routine. The winning team receives the Golden Growler award filled with their favorite beer.

Registration for the IPA 10K is currently open. Each race participant receives a participant running shirt, a bottle opener medal, an event beer tasting glass, and beer tasting tickets.

Festival tickets are only $30 and can also be purchased in advance at ipa10K.com/registration.
