Trip & Itinerary Ideas
The Planning Starts Here!
You're Going to Need More Days...
Can't decide what to do? Below we're serving up some Santa Rosa-centric-themed trip ideas that you can use to put together your own itinerary. And yes, it's ok to mix and match as much as you want!
Foodie Trip
Culinary tourism is defined as the pursuit of unique and memorable eating and drinking experiences. And with so many restaurants, food events, and ways to immerse yourself in the Sonoma County food scene, people keep people coming back to Santa Rosa.
Food tourism is about experiencing local gastronomy with friends — farm-to-table eateries, breweries, wineries, cheese shops, markets, harvest dinners, and wine tastings, as well as learning about food and interesting food and wine pairings. And we’re not just talking about gourmet food. Foodies are keen to taste their way through Santa Rosa’s pop-up restaurants and food trucks.
Whether you are enjoying a romantic dinner for two; meeting your friends for a quick bite; pairing our cuisine with local libations and stunning scenery or digging into a feast of fresh seafood or locally raised meats; whatever your taste, you really can't go wrong in Santa Rosa. Wine Trip
With over 400 wineries and 18 distinctive American Vinicultural Areas there are so many options it is hard to put together an itinerary without leaving something out. The good news is Santa Rosa is in the center of it all. The Wine Road is an indispensable resource guiding visitors and locals alike through the scenic bi-ways and backroads of the Alexander, Dry Creek, and Russian River valleys of Northern Sonoma County.
You can also plan your trip around many of our area's wine-focused events. If a tour or food and wine pairing is more your style, check out our wine page.
Spa and Relaxation Trip
It's time for you to do you! Whether it is time to treat yourself, detoxify or just relax, we have you covered. For a luxury experience spend the night at Vintners Resort and experience Vi La Vita Spa. For treatments from traditional to seasonal specialties try Health Spa Montecito at the Flamingo Resort.
For a more unique experience such as a cedar enzyme bath, Zen garden, organic facials, or specialty massage, Osmosis Day Spa Sanctuary is the place for you. Yoga in the Vineyard is another way to nourish your body and enjoy everything Sonoma County has to offer.
Adventure Trip
Adventure and adrenalin may not be your first thought when you think of Santa Rosa and Sonoma County, but we have you covered. You can zip-line through the redwoods, some of the tallest and oldest living things you will ever meet.
With more than 50 miles of coastline, maybe some surfing, scuba diving or ocean kayaking is more your style.
Tirone-Annadel State Park is home to some of the best mountain biking around or take a vigorous hike up the 2,729-foot Bald Mountain at Sugarloaf Ridge State Park and be rewarded with views on a clear day of the Sierras, Mount Diablo, and Mount Tamalpais, and San Francisco Bay.
Still think there is not enough adventure then how about sky diving above one of the most beautiful landscapes in the world?
